The present investigation was carried out during the period. from 2005/2006 to 2007/2008 at the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture Assiut University. The objectives of this investigation were to obtain information about the performance and genetic components of parental wheat genotypes and their F2s under normal irrigation and stress condition. The performance of all genotypes under water stress condition were lower than its performance under favorable condition. The parent Sids 4 was the earliest flowering and tallest spike under both of normal and stress conditions. Population ( P2x P8 ) was the earliest among F2 populations, while population ( P7 x Ps ) gave the tallest spike under both conditions. The mean of grain yield /plant for all geno- types was 27.37 g and 23.1 g under normal and stress water condition, respectively. EL- Nelain variety had the highest grain yield/ plant compared with another parental varieties under both conditions. On the other hand, in the F2 populations, the highest grain yield obtained from (P2xP3)population. The estimation of Genetic components revealed that the additive (D) and dominance (H) components were highly significant at both confitions, indicating the importance of the additive and non-additive gene effects in the inheritance of spike length, no. of spikes /plant and 100-kernel weight. Heritability in narrow sense ranged from 0.15 for no. spikes/plant to 0.59 for spike length at normal irrigation and from 0.25 for 1000-grain weight to 0.56 for spike length at water stress condition.
