Medicago sativa is a leguminous plant species that originated in Asia and Iran.this plant species has been grown for a variety of purposes such as soil improvement, animal feed and suitable foliage. Since Esfahan located in a dry area, consequently, the study of plant responces to irrigation interval is important. A field experiment of four iriigation interval treatments (90,70,50 and 30 percentage of available water, II ,I2, 13 and 14 respectively) in a complete randomized block design with three replicates was carried out at Kabootarabad experimental station during 2000-2002. Results showed that 13 treatment coused the highest yield of alfalfa (dry and wet content), 15.87, 58.03 ton/ha respectively and the best water use efficiency 1.046 kg/m3. II treatment coused the lowest yield of alfalfa (dry and wet content), 10.53, 37.86 ton/ha respectively and 14 treatment coused the worst water use efficiency 0.796 kg/m3. However, the 13 treatment is recomended.
