Study on autumn planting possibility of new oilseed sunflower cultivars in rainfed conditions of gonbadý.

In order to evaluate autumn planting possibility vs. winter planting of new oilseed sunflower genotypes in rainfed conditions of gonbad, an experiment was conducted at gonbad agricultural research station in years (2008-2010). A split-plot design with RCBD base and 4 replications were used. Four planting date from December 1st with 15 day intervals and 6 cultivars (SHF81-90, Farrokh, Favorit, Azargol, CMSG5XR-43, CMSG6XR-43) were levels of main and sub-plots respectively. Common note-takings consist of phenologic stages, yield and its related traits was done. Results analyzed each year and after 2nd year, combined analysis of variance on evaluated traits was done using F-test. Effect of year was significant on all traits with the exception of plant height and head diameter. More proper weather conditions of 1st year resulted in higher seed and oil yield. Effect of planting dates was significant on none of traits evaluated, which could be attributed to results of first year. Nevertheless 2nd planting date (December 16th), had highest seed (1.858 t/ha) and oil yield (0.696 t/ha) respectively. Interaction of year X planting date was significant on all traits evaluated, which was expectable due to different conditions of each year. Effect of cultivar was significant on all traits studied with the exception of oil content. Hybrids CMSG6XR-43 and SHF81-90 had the highest (1.889 t/ha) and lowest (1.385 t/ha) seed yields, respectively. The least ripening period belonged to Farrokh (163.6 days) and the highest related to CMSG5xR-43(185.4 days). Therefore to obtain higher seed and oil yield of sunflower in rainfed areas of Golestan, it could be suggestable to plant CMSG6XR-43, Farrokh and Favorit on 2nd planting date (December 16th).
