Use of four plate teset in rder to determine antibiotic residue in poultry of sanandaj stuaghterhoute

Antibiotic residues in animal products are the most important negative effects of antibiotic use in animals : Consuming animal products with antibiotic residue is just like direct use of antibiotic drugs. In this study, we evaluated the residues of antibacterial substances in 100 randomly selected poultry carcases of Sanandad slaughterhouse during four consecutive seasons. The samples were collected from liver and muscles of breast, wing and thigh of each carcase. The samples were tested by" four plate test" , a qualitative standard method that is used for antibiotic residual detection. In this method Bacillus subtilis is cultured in an agar moller hinton media with PHs of 6,7.2 and 8 and Micrococcus latus in PH of 8. According to results, 72 cases (72%) had antibiotic residues in one or more sites that were higher than maximum residue limits. Contamination rete was more common in one organ (61.1%) than two (15.15%) or three (11.09%) organs. There were also cases of four organ contamination (12.5%). Liver was the most common site of antibiotic residue (51%), whereas breast, wing and thigh were less contaminated (35%, 21% and 19% respectively). Contamination rate was higher in winter (80%) comparing with spring (76%), summer (72%) and autumn (60%). In conclusion contamination of carcases was high (72%), and consuming those can be harmful for human, so logical use of antibiotics with considering withdrawal time and close monitoring by evaluating systems are recommended.
