This experiment was conducted to study the effect of sowing methods and seed rates on yield of Alfalfa forage in Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center of Baluchestan. A split-plot design with four replications was used. Three sowing methods viz., conventional method (mixed sowing), sowing with 12 and 24 cm spacing between rows and four seed rates viz., 20, 30, 40 and 50 kg ha-1 were located in main plots and sub-plots, respectively. Rresult of three yerars combined analysis of data showed that the effects of sowing methods and seed rates on fresh forage yield, total dry matter, number of stem m-2 and stem diameter were significant. Sowing method of 12 cm spacing between rows had the highest fresh forage yield, total dry matter and number of stem m-2 with 223.3 tha-1, 35.3 t ha-1 and 677, respectively. The highest stem diameter with 2.8 mm was obtained in 24 cm of row spacing. The effect of seed rates on fresh forage yield, total dry matter, number of stem m-2 and stem girth were significant. Applying of 30 kg ha-1 seed recorded the maximum fresh forage yield, total dry matter and number of stem m-2 with 215 t ha-1, 33.8 t ha-1 and 640 stems, respectively. Stem diameter was maximum when 20 kg ha-1 seed was applied. Interaction effects of sowing methoda x seed rates on yield and yield chracters of Nikshahrian Alfalfa was not significant. Based on current study sowing method of 12 cm spacing rows and applying of 30 kg ha-1 seed for higher productivity of Nikshahrian Alfalfa in Baluchestan region is recomendable.
