PROJECT TITLE:Investigation of growh, site genetic diversity and their interactions on Populus nigra and Populus alba species
2010
Hesami , Seyed Majed
Six poplar stands of Populus alba were selected at margins of different rivers of Esfahan province. Growth characteristics of each stands including diameter, height, diameter growth, height growth and volume growth were measured. Slope, side, and elevation of each stand as well as physicochemistry characteristics of soil were demonstrated. In each stand were selected three trees and then their cuttings were planted in a Randomized Complete Block Design with f replications along with samples from Zanjan and Kermanshah were planted at Shahid Fozveh Research Station, Esfahan, Iran. Twenty morphological attributes per each experimental unit were measured in suitable times. Univariate and multivariate statistical analysis have done by MSTAT-C, SPSS, and PC-ORD software. Results of tree growth characteristics in each stand showed highest volume growth in stand f with i ~, ~ f mf/y/ha, and lowest volume growth in stand ~ with ~ 0,00 mt'/y/ha, but percentage of thick trees per stand is more important criteria for ranking of stands. So that some stands in spite of high volume growth have only thin trees. Analysis of soil nutrition with PCA analysis showed differences between stands. Regarding the matter, there were not significant relationships between soil characteristics and poplar species distribution. Analysis of morphological attributes showed differences between standa. Key Words: Populus nigra, P. alba, morphological markers, site characteristic, growth factors.
