Preparation of the Flora of East Azarbayjan Province

The plan of the East Azarbayjan province Flora was prepared in 1384 was run for 6 years. Species list of the province were extracted from various sources. Province plants were described according to the family. Identification key for families, genera and species were prepared and for all species description was provided based on key attributes and dispersal of species in the province are listed. Images of each indexed species from any family is shown. Special habitat of province including Arasbaran region , saline areas, marn hills, rocky areas, wet, mountains and aquatic species were listed, including Arasbaran region with 906 species reperesents the highest diversity. Rare plants including three groups were determined with species endemic for province (48 species), species endemic to Iran(112 species) and species with exclusive distribution in the province(64 species). In total 2171 species belonging to 624 genera and 113 families were identified. The following families have the highest number of species in East Azarbayejan province: Asteraceae (295 species), Papilionaceae (268 species), Poacea (159 species), Lamiaceae (134 species),Caryophyllaceae (119 species), Brassicaceae (112 species) and the genus Astragalus with 153 species is the largest genus in the province . nine new species were described for the first time. From indexed plant species of each family color photos were taken, in total 700 images were prepared.
