Effect of different levels of dietry non-starch polysaccharides on hepatic lipogenesis in goslings.

Two trials were conducted to study the effect of levels of dietary non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) on the lipid accumulation and the activities of lipogenic-related enzymes in the liver of goslings. The results indicated that average daily gain ratio was not significantly different among dietary treatments (p,0.05). Increasing dietary NSP levels suppressed the activities of lipogenic-related enzymes, i.e., glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1. 49G6PDH), NADP-malate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1 40NADP-MDH), ATP-citrate cleavage enzyme (EC 4.1.3. 8CCE) and fatty acid synthetase (FAS), in the liver. The contents of triglyceride, total cholesterol and total lipid in the liver and in the plasma significantly (p0.05) decreased or tended to decrease as dietary NSP level increased.
