Effects of dietary supplementation of fermented soy protein on growth performance of weaning pigs

Two experiments were conducted to examine dietary supplementation of fermented soy protein FSP on growth performance of nursery and weaning piglets. Two-way crossed Duroc x Landrace piglets and corn-soybean meal basal diets were used in both experiments. In experiment 1, three levels of FSP 5, 15 and 25 supplemented diets were compared with the 5 fish meal added basal diet and fed to nursery piglets from 7 to 28 days of age. The results showed that there were no significant differences in feed intake, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio F/G . However, there were significant decrease in diarrhoea percentage from 12.5 to 0 with the inclusion of FSP. In experiment 2, three levels of FSP (5, 13, and 21 supplemented diet were compared with the 5 fish meal added basal diet and fed to pigs from 28 to 56 days of age. The results showed that there were no significant differences in feed intake, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio F/G), while diarrhoea percentage decreased from 16.67 to 0 as FSP supplementation increased in the diets.
