2012
Piañar, R.J.C. | Silvestre, J.C.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of organic-based amendments on the growth and yield of V. volvacea and determine the profitability of using different organic-based amendments in the production of straw mushroom. This was conducted at Department of Plant Pathology, USM, and Rio Grande Street, Kabacan, Cotabato from January to March 2012. Highly significant differences among treatment means were noted in the days to harvest, number of buttons harvested per treatment, mean size of length and width of harvested buttons, mean circumference of caps, length and stem diameter of fully opened caps. Of the seven organic-based amendments applied, only Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ) highly influenced the growth and yield of V. volvacea. This treatment showed the earliest appearance of pinheads and obtained more number of buttons harvested and it was comparable to ammonium phosphate (standard check). This was the only treatment with a positive net income from treatment usage of Php12.00/bed (20' L x 8' W x 7' high).
