A field experiment laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) replicated three times was conducted to determine and compare the performance of four peanut varieties. The treatments were as follows: T1-BPI Pn9, T2-NSIC Pn11 (Namnama 1), T3-NSIC Pn9 (Likas), T4-NSIC Pn14 (Namnama 2). Results of the experiment showed that the four test varieties of peanut significantly varied in height at harvest. The tallest variety was NSIC Pn14 (Namnama 2), but comparable in height with BPI Pn9. The number of days to flowering and the number of days to maturity were both similar in all the varietal treatments. On yield components results showed that fresh weight of pods per hill significantly differed among the treatments. Pods in T4-NSIC Pn14 (Namnama 2) and T2-NSIC (Pn11 (Namnama 1) were significantly comparable but significantly heavier than those in T3-NSIC Pn9 (Likas) and T1-BPI Pn9. Fresh weight of pods per plot, weight of both marketable and non-marketable pods were similar in all the varieties tested. NSIC Pn14 (Namnama 2) had outyielded the other three peanut varieties in terms of weight of 1000 seeds.
