In the last project entitled" collection and characterization of sainfoin germplasm…" , 64 accessions were identified according to their suitable agronomic traits. Seeds of these materials were regenerated in Khorassan Research Center by means of distance isolation and then sent to Urimia and Maraghe Research Centers for planting in Lattice Design with 2 replications, in the next year. A number of 16 superior accessions were selected based on their forage yield. In the next year, selected germplasms were planted in Complete Block Design in 3 replications. The accessions of 52TN00270 had the highest dry forage yield in four cuts with a mean of 278.7 g/m2 in each cut based on results of Analysis of Variance. While cuts were comparison for dry forage yield, the fourth showed the least production but there were no significant differences among other cuts. There was no significant difference among Onobrychis species (O. chorassanica, O. sativa, and O. subnitens) for forage production too. Meanwhile, there was no significant difference among these species for leaf/stem ratio which has a direct effect in forage quality. When means of cuts were compared to this trait, first (= second), third and fourth cuts were arranged in descending order. Selected germplasms by this research, including of wild species, can be used in sainfoin breeding programs.
