A field experiment was conducted at the Rice Research institute of Iran- Rasht to find comparison use organic and inorganic fertilizers on the rice quality and quantity and also on paddy soil during 1388- 1389. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 10 treatments and 3 replications were performed on rice varieties Hashemi. Soil samples were taken before and after implementation to lab for analysis. Results showed that grain yield, straw yield, plant height, number of tillers and harvest index were significanly higher at 1% level of significance compared betwenn treatments in 2 years. The nitrogen uptake in grain and steem have significantly different at 5% level but on the other properties of the difference is not statistically significant. The overall performance of using chemical and organic fertilizers in different treatments showed that they have major role in increasing rice yield and soil quality. If the goal is making sustainable rice cultivation and friendly environment, use of organic fertilizers can be a good alternative instead of conventional use of chemical fertilizers in rice cultivation. Therefore we can use 5 tons per hectare of Azolla compost instead of chemical fertilizer.
