The present study was conducted on three flocks in Arak city for investigation of the effects of complementary feeding on reproductive efficiency of farahani ewes in critical stages of their production period. At the beginning of the experiment body weight and body condition score were measured in all ewes of flocks. Then ewes in each flock divided to two groups, control and experimental. In each herd ,control ewes were fed according to usual nutrition without receiving any supplementary food and experimental ewes were received supplementary food (concentrate) in three experimental stages consist of : mating season, the last 45 days of gestation, and Lactation stage, in addition to usual nutrition. The means of body weight and body condition score in control and experimental ewes at the end of the first stage were 39.4 kg, 2.09 and 42.34 kg, 2.56 , respectively(P0.01).The supplementary feeding in three experimental stages also had significant effect on birth weight and weaning weight of lambs. The means of the lamb birth weights and lamb weights at 30,60 and 90 days old, in control ewes were 3.38, 9.16, 12.99 and 22.65 kg and for experimental ewes 4.09,11.23,16.55 and 27.21 kg, respectively. Blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and glucose of control pregnant ewes was 11.18 and 53.72 mg/dl and in experimental pregnant ewes was 16.09 and 65.54 mg/dl(P0.01).The pregnancy percent in control and supplementary feeding groups were 85.29 and 94.44 percent(P0.01) respectively. So, use of the supplementary food at the mating season and late pregnancy improve reproductive performance of Farahani ewes.
