In Iran, most of the rice varieties for economical production are planted in irrigated conditions which constantly require a lot of water for irrigation. Aerobic rice is a new concept of growing rice in an aerobic conditions and alternate irrigation to produce high yield rice. Thus, this study was conducted to evaluate rice genotypes received from IRRI. In this experiment, 116 genotypes from IRRI, with 5 local checks viz. Khazar, Hashemi, line no. 203, line no. 416 and Shiroudi were evaluated based on IRRI instructions for this set in non-flooded conditions. Each genotype was planted in a 6 m2 plot with plant spacing of 20Χ20 cm. The augmented design was used and the only check genotypes were repeated in the blocks. To eliminate weeds, both chemical and mechanical controls were applied. Effective pesticide was applied to control insect pests. Plant height, number of tiller, panicle length, paddy weight, milling rate and quality properties was measured. Data analysis and correction were performed based on controls mean and in view of the important characteristics and quality, 22 lines were selected, to be used in future experiment.
