In order to determine appropriate transplanting date and plant spacing for the rice promising line IRTON2, field experiments were carried out at the Rice Research Institute of Iran Deputy of Mazandaran (Amol) during 2011 and 2012. These experiments were laid out as split plots based on a Randomized Complete Block Design with 3 replications. Main factor was transplanting date in three levels (April 15 , April 25 and May 5) and sub factor was plant spacing also with three levels (1330أ, 20أ20 and 2525أ cm). Some agronomical traits, including plant height, tiller numbers, panicle length, number of filled and unfilled grains, grain weight and economic yield were measured. Results showed that transplanting date, Plant spacing, transplanting date x year and Plant spacing x planting date had significant effects on grain yield (P0.01). Highest grain yield (6070 kg ha-1) was obtained in May 5 with 2020أ cm plant spacing. Transplanting data significantly affected the rate of damage of stem borer and the lowest dead heart was observed in the transplanting date of May 5. Keywords: Yield, Transplanting date, Plant spacing, rice promising line.
