A field experiment based on RCB design was conducted at the Heidarlo Research Station, Orumieh, from June to August to evaluate comparative efficacy of three different insecticides, Endosulfan, Bactospein(Baccillus thuringcinsis), and aquaus extract of Neem seed kernel( due to some problems in obtaining another biological insecticide) along with untreated check against pod borer (Heliothis viriplaca), on rainfed chickpea crop. The crop was sprayed with insecticides at early flowering stage. Significant differences were observed amongst insecticides, which had a varying degree of control in respect of decreased larval pest population and pod damage 10 days after treatments, Endosolfan and Neem seed kernel were the most effective insecticide in reducing the population of pod borer, followed by Bactospein was found to be the least effective insecticide under this study. There were no significant differences amongst insecticides to prevent pod damages or increasing seed yield.
