A study on the effects of molasses treated wheat straw using urea or limeston in nutrition of finishing Baluchi lambs.

The 36 Baluchi lambs were used in a complete randomized design with 6 replicates in each of 6 treatment for study the effects of molasses treated wheat straw using urea or limestone on the feed intake and weight gaine. The lamb was fed individually ad-libitum with a total mixed ration (TMR), water and block salt were avilable freely. Roughage used in the ration consists of wheat straw which treated by 10% molasses and or/ 0%, 4%, 8% urea and/or 4%, 8% limestone and ensiled for 30 days and alfalfa hay as a control diet. Roughage: Concenterat ration was 40:60 Recording consist of individual lambs feed intake and weight gain for 6 periods of 14 days each. The result from this study indicated that lambs which consumed control diet had maximum feed intake and maximum average daily gain. There was a significant difference between the control diet and other treatment for average daily gain and feed intake (P0.05). There was a significant difference between the 8% urea and 0% urea diets for average daily gain and feed intake (P0.05). There was a significant difference between the control diet and other treatments except 8% urea diet for feed conversion (P0.05).There were significant difference between tratments for carcass compositions.
