Evaluation of Sesame Germplasm of National Plant Gene Bank of Iran for Drought Stress Tolerance

Limited water in arid regions is of the factors of limiting plant production. Evaluation of plants those are landraces of these regions are so important. To evaluate of 12 accessions of sesame variety with a local control in two separate complete block designs were carried. Stress Inducing was done with stopping of irrigation in 3-4 leaves stage. Accssions were planted in Karaj, Esfehan, Mashad, Zabol and moghan. Evaluation of quantity characters were done based on IPGRI descriptors same days to flowering, days to capsule, number of capsules per plant, number of seeds per capsule and yield of single plant. Variance analyses have done and tolerance indexes to sterss determinated. Results showed, accessions had different behaiviors in different locations., Totally accssetions 78-166, 78-229 and 78-400 in different location in two common location or more had the hieth tolerance or the lowest sensitivity. In stress condition between yield and capsule number per plant was significant different. Also yield of accsstions had significant difference in water stress condition. The number of capsules as a important yield particial, was influenced from water stress condition with different behaiviors.
