Development of landscape planting is nessesary for aesthetic and producing clean environment in the cities. Shortage of water is a main limiting factor for landscape development in arid regions. To overcome this problem, rainwater harvesting and using for landscape planting may remedy some of this limitation. So, in this study, rainwaters were collected and stored into a water reservoir called Abanbar. Rtainwaters were used for establishment and development of landescape planting. About 95 shrub and tree spieces were planted in a farm in 2008 and irrigated by rainwater during the experimental period. Responses of species were measured in terms of plant vitality, freshness and annual growth rates during 2010 to 2012. Results showed a good vitality and freshness for 61 species and moderate for 19 of another species. During this study, 15 species died due to low adaptability to experimental condition. The mean anuual growth rate were 4 to 95 cm among species. The plant hieghts obtained between 45 to 318 cm by the end of study period. In conclusion, some species in which showed high adaptability, would be suitable for using in regions with low water availability.
