Needs analysis on Teaching Competencies for Industrial Field Trainer

This research is aimed at providing the baseline data for developing effective programs by analysing needs on improvement of teaching competencies for industrial field trainers. To this end, the research verifies whether the teaching competencies and performance standard of industrial trainers drawn from the literature reviews are the necessary competencies of industrial trainers at working places and studies the new teaching competencies needed at working places by conducting interviews of industrial field trainers. In addition, the priority of the educational needs for enhancing the teaching competencies of the trainers are drawn from assessing the needs by investigating the present and desirable level of industrial field trainers. In result, the study synthesizes the competencies of industrial field trainers, that are mainly competencies of designing and developing curriculum, planning and preparing a lesson, managing class, evaluating class, supervising experiment and practice, guiding career path and counseling, providing education cooperating with industry and enhancing the expertise, and adds competencies needed by industrial field trainers on characteristic. The study conducts survey on the needs analysis on developing programs for improving the teaching competencies targeting 237 industrial field trainers and uses 100 surveyed questionnaires. Based on the needs teaching competencies of industrial field trainers, the study shows the competencies of 5item has top priority and 8item are followed.
