In this study, the authors present the main diseases encountered in the species selected for this study, namely Ancistrus brevipinnis (Regan, 1904) and Corydoras aeneus (Gill, 1858), bred in captivity. In natural conditions, the occurrence and prevalence of the diseases are less frequent and harmful, except for the cases of pollution, compared to clustered breeding conditions, where these are more dangerous, the artificial life conditions encouraging the action of a larger variety of abiotic and biotic pathogenic agents. Depending on the nature of the pathogenic agents encountered in both fish and other animal organisms, there are specific diseases caused by animated pathogenic agents (viruses, bacteria, parasites) and non-specific diseases provoked by physical-chemical, nutritional and constitutional agents. The environmental conditions act on both fish and pathogenic agents, either encouraging or inhibiting their action on the host. The disease statuses are the result of a close interaction between pathogens, host and environment.
