Study on the efficacy of biological compounds (Fluzyme, Fulzyme plus, Mildew cure, Fosphite, Marigold and GC-Mite) in biological control of insect pests and diseases of greenhouse cucumber and tomato

Wilt and root and crown rot disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-cucumerinum (Forc) is an important disease of cucumber grown in many green-houses across Iran where several fungicides were used for its control. In the present study, the efficacy of biological compounds included that Fulzyme and Fulzyme Plus alongside with Carbendazim fungicide (WP 60%) was examined in the control of the disease in Tehran and Varamin greenhouses. Treatments were used as seed treatment, soil drench at transplanting and two times post- transplanting (in 5 weeks interval), in 1.5, 2 and 2.5 gram/litre. The treatments were used in a completely randomized design with four replications. To assess the efficacy of treatments, disease incidence as well as the weight of roots and shoots were measured when disease symptoms were observed in more than 60% of inoculated plants. Application of Fulzyme in 2 and 2.5 g/l showed similarly a significant control in 54.88% and 65.16% of treated cucumber plants reapectively compared with untreated plants. Fulzyme plus at 2 and 2.5 g /l incited a significant control of the disease as 60.40% and 62.53% accordingly. The root weight of the treated plants with Fulzyme and Fulzyme plus showed a significant increase up to 1.22 and 1.45 times respectively. In addition, Fulzyme and Fulzyme plus caused a significant increase in shoot weight up to 49.66% and 58.05% correspondingly in comparison with untreated plants. This study showed that application of Fulzyme and Fulzume plus is effective in the control of wilt and root and crown rot disease of greenhouse cucumber as well as in the increase of plant growth parameters.
