The role of financial services in increasing the competitiveness of the horticultural sector is very important because the modernization of the horticultural sector depends directly on the implemented financial services. This paper presents an analysis of the main financial services implemented in the horticultural sector of the Republic of Moldova, such as: credits, subsidies, insurances etc. Consideration is given to the problems the farmers encounter when accessing financial services and to the role of funding in increasing the competitiveness of the horticultural sector, and measures are proposed to facilitate farmers’ access to financial resources. The research is based on data collected from the National Bureau of Statistics, National Bank of Moldova, Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture etc.
