俄语. Обобщен многолетний опыт научного обеспечения кормопроизводства СССР и России, подведены итоги деятельности Всероссийского НИИ кормов имени В. Р. Вильямса, созданного в 1912 г.. В институте работали такие известные ученые, как В. Р. Вильямс, А. М. Дмитриев, Л. Г. Раменский, И. В. Ларин, С. П. Смелов, Т. А. Работнов, А. А. Зубрилин, П. И. Лисицын, и многие другие. На протяжении всей своей истории институт осуществляет научно-методическое руководство и координацию работ по геоботаническому изучению и оценке природных кормовых угодий страны, луговому и полевому кормопроизводству, селекции и семеноводству кормовых культур, технологии заготовки, хранения и использования кормов. Кормовые экосистемы занимают огромные площади в России. В разных природно-сельскохозяйственных зонах России имеются 92 млн. га природных кормовых угодий и 325 млн. га оленьих пастбищ, для производства кормов используются более 50% из 122 млн. га пашни, всего более 75% с.-х. угодий или 25% территории России. Кормопроизводство (лугопастбищные экосистемы и многолетние травы на пашне) выполняет 3 важнейшие функции: производство кормов для с.-х. животных; экологическую (средообразующую и природоохранную), обеспечивающую устойчивость с.-х. земель и агроландшафтов к изменениям климата и воздействию негативных процессов; системообразующую и связующую в единую систему растениеводство, земледелие и животноводство, экологию, рациональное природопользование и охрану окружающей среды. В настоящее время институт является крупнейшим научно-методическим, исследовательским и интеллектуальным центром по кормопроизводству России, который координирует работу более 100 НИИ и вузов страны.

英语. Experience of a scientific support the fodder production in Soviet Union and Russia for the 100 years was presented. The results of All-Russian Williams Fodder Research Institute's scientific-practical activities in Russia since 1912 were summarized. Such a famous scientists as V.R. Williams, A.M. Dmitriev, L.G. Ramenskiy, I.V. Larin, S.P. Smelov, T.A. Rabotnov, A.A. Zubrilin, P.I. Lisitsin and many others were working in the Institute. During the every periods of his history the Institute was the leader in the scientific-methodological management and coordination in the field of geographic-botanic study and estimation of natural pastures, grassland and field fodder production, in forage crops breeding and seed multiplication, in technologies of fodders manufacture, preservation and utilization. Fodder ecosystems occupy the huge acreages in Russia. There are 92 mln ha of natural grasslands and 325 mln ha of deer's pastures in different nature-agricultural zones of the country. More than 50 % out of 122 mln ha the arable lands are used for the fodder production, totally more than 75% of the agricultural lands or 25% of Russia territory. Fodder production (grassland ecosystems and perennial grasses on the arable lands), executes the following major functions: production of feeds for animal husbandry, environment-forming and nature-protective, which provides stability of agricultural lands and agrolandscapes to climate and negative process effects; system-forming and combining a such branches as plant industry, farming agriculture, animal husbandry, ecology, rational nature management and environment protection. At the present moment All-Russian Williams Fodder Research Institute is known as the largest scientific-methodological, research and intellectual centre on fodder production in Russia. It coordinates the activities of more than 100 research and educational institutions of the country.
