Raising dairy cows is possible on farmland which is appropriate for production of quality feed. Such farmland is essential for the preparation of balanced feed rations, both in terms of energy and other nutrients. In some Evraopean countries production of hay milk is expanding. Austria annually produces more than 400 million liters of hay milk, which represents 15% of their annual milk production.
