Contamination of the working atmosphere by metal working fluid (MWFs) mist brings out main negative aspect of their utilization in metal working technological process. Aerosol is generated by liquid fluid particles finely dispersed in the environment. MWFs are converted to aerosols by splash motion or evaporation, and the mechanism of their formation can be described by equipments which respected the basic physical principles. In the article are characterized three basic mechanisms of the contaminating aerosol generation. Subsequently, there are introduced the mathematical models which are showing the quantification of the aerosol amount through these mechanisms.
