In a course of the research there was analyzed the state of fodder production in Belarus. The research was realized in the Republic of Belarus. As a result of realized research there was revealed the main ways of its development directed to the increasing of plant protein production. The research results of the productivity of perennial leguminous grasses and postharvest catch crops were presented. The expansion of crops of alfalfa required strengthening of scientific research on the technology of its cultivation. On soils, little suitable for alfalfa, it was necessary to cultivate as perennial legumes cultivated Lotus corniculatus and Hungarian sainfoin (Onobrychis arenaria) on the technology developed in the Brest Regional Agricultural Experimental Station of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Pruzhany (Belarus). An additional reserve of production of protein rich fodder crops were cabbage crop crops (rape spring and winter, winter colza, oil radish) providing at doses of 90-120 kg/ha a.i. the output of fodder units from 22.9 to 39.8 c/ha, protein - from 4.3 to 7.1 c/ha, depending on the culture.
