In a course of the research there was studied the carrying capacity of different alfalfa varieties using three cut system. The research was realized in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus on sod-podzolic cohesive sandy soil in 2005-2006 in a selected crop rotation of the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Arable Farming, Zhodino (Belarus). As a result of realized research it was revealed the importance of record keeping of herbage yield per each cut for planning of forage conservation from different varieties. It was established that in three cut system, the share of the first cutting was the highest one (43.5-53.5%), the share of the second cutting was 33.5-38.9%, and the share of the third one made up 7.6-20.4% in the total herbage yield for the period of vegetation. Sometimes the varieties of yellow-flowered group (var. Selyulinskaya) provided only 2 cuts.
