In a course of the research there was studied the spread and harmfulness of beet-root diseases in the growing season. The research was realized in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus. The pathogens of beet -root diseases, areas of their spreading, and the harmfulness of stripline scab were revealed. Such virus-related disease as rhizomania was identified and its harmfulness was established. The most common disease of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris var. saccharifera) during the growing season was stripline scab identified in 3.2-36,4% of the surveyed areas. In the structure of the major diseases of the root system it was from 28.6 to 86.6%. The close correlation between the degree of development of Belt scab, sugar content and sugar yield (r = 0.92). With increasing lesion concatenated scab (from 0 to 4 points) sugar decreased by 15.7%, sugar yield - 18.3%, found an increase in the content of potassium in roots (+ 15.6%), sodium (+ 30.8%), the alpha-amino nitrogen (+ 39.0%). The dominant diseases of the root system of fungal origin were Fusarium (1.1-3.7% of the surveyed areas) and brown rot of root crops (1.0-2.5%). Fusarium rot of the structure of the major diseases of the root system was from 5.4 to 32.8%, brown rot – 3.2-18.8%, respectively.
