Even today, the initial capacity prognosis of wells with horizontal drains represents unknown value. Although a large number of researchers have dealt with this problem, their results can not be generalized due to large number of unknown facts in each case study. In practice, well capacity prognosis is mostly based on the researcher’s experience in similar conditions. Investigation works, directed towards defining aquifer geometry and grain-size distribution, are often unsatisfactory concerning complexity and represented details. This paper presents the results of preliminary hydrodynamic analysis of the initial capacity of a well at Belgrade water source. Parameter analysis, for the given hydrogeological and hydrodynamic conditions, investigates well capacity dependency onto the drain length and number, their position regarding the river and height of the water- bearing layer, and the role of low-permeable interlayer. The calculation results show that the well capacity is not a linear function of single parameter change, but with the increase of parameter value tends towards the asymptotic value. The obtained results can not be generalized, but the case study presents the recommended methodology for this type of problem.
