2012
Vilotić, Dragica | Šakić, Srećko
The aim of this publication is to indicate specific importance of Evodia as a melliefrous species, and to point out to ways the plantations are built. The presented topic has been based on less known literature sources, and on perennial field and laboratory researches applied by the authors. Designing the plantations and plots of Evodia with undergrowth in the way described in this publication is realistic in Serbia. Since, there are no plantations of Evodia of such type in our country, the authors established test fields in Vojvodina, where they also implemented related research. What they established on the occasion was a successful development of snowberries, mahonia and ground flora beneath Evodia, as well as the majority of other species described herein. When Evodia plantation is being established, it is very important to select appropriate accompanying species gaining their optimum in that area. There are plants requireing certain habitat conditions for their optimal development. Unlike them, some species do not even develop in every area due to certain habitat conditions. It should be noted that all plant species described in this monograph are present in Srbia. Therefore, this pilot project should be adjusted to specificities of ecological factors in each area where Evodia plantations are built. The book is intended primarily for beekeepers, but also for students of the Faculty of Forestry, as well as for wider population, since this book speaks about a number of medical herbs. Long-lasting field research have contributed to originality of Evodia photographs and those of other melliferous plants. Only a few photos were taken from other sources.
