Economic, social and ecological aspects of environmental protection in agriculture

Ecological problems in agriculture are becoming bigger and bigger in the last few decades because of the increase in violated balances of the environment and the negative cumulative effects on human health. Being part of the environment people are influenced by all the processes too. The all-embracing process of transition to environmentally friendly farming is still very slow. The goal of sustainable development is to satisfy current needs but preventing and saving natural resources for future. New technologies for environmental protection are being applied as well as great economical and social changes are being made in agriculture and in the society as a whole and these processes are spreading world-widely. The realization that the prosperity in the economics can be reached through development of a knowledge-based and environmentally oriented economy and a safe and a fair society is connected very closely to ecological sustainability and it is the key point in future development trends. As a sector in the very beginning of production chains agriculture is the most important in all these processes and especially to environmental protection. This paper considers economic, social and ecological aspects of environmental protection in agriculture in respect to the aim of environment preservation and future sustainable development.
