Mosaic structure as a factor of sustainable development of forest ecosystems under conditions of the south of the Central Russian upland | Мозаичность как фактор устойчивого развития лесных экосистем в условиях юга среднерусской возвышенности

Due to intensive affection of forest monocultures by phytopathogens and phytophages studies were done to prove mosaic structure's key role in inbreeding depression (ID) development in subpopulation of model pathogen – Erisiphe alphitoides sac fungus (oak powdery mildew causative agent), by comparing studied parameters in open and ecologically isolated plantations on relatively small land plots. Studies of development of oak cultivars environmental protection from pests and diseases were done in Voronezh region (Shipov forest). They were started in 1991 and results of experiments were recorded phase by phase in 1996, 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2015. Model species' pathogenic populations were divided in relatively small subpopulations in experimental production facilities, which initiated ID effect and decreased pathogens' activity. It was found that pedunculate oak's vulnerability to powdery mildew pathogen was significantly lower in biogroups (12.3%) than in forest edge trees populations (67.4%). In partial reproductive isolation conditions reduction of key parameters of E. alphitoides's generative organs was noted. For example, cleistothecia number decreased by 7.3 times, and conidia's length and width - by 7.9 and 4.4 um, respectively, which is indicative of ID effect. Splitting the whole population in relatively small (0.25 ha) isolated groups (subpopulations) weakens the population, because the likelihood of mating between individual subjects with identical genes increases. The advantage of the mosaic structure of plantings is evident in the fact that the adjacency of dissimilar biogroups provides environmental isolation that significantly hinders the invasion of spores of pathogenic organisms. It was shown that the effect of ID in the populations of pathogens could be used for preventive protection of forests against them and would contribute to sustainable development of mosaic forest ecosystems under conditions of the South of the Central Russian Upland.

Поскольку лесные монокультуры интенсивно поражаются фитопатогенами и фитофагами, проведены исследования с целью обоснования ключевой роли мозаичности в развитии инбридинговой депрессии (ИД) в субпопуляции модельного патогена – сумчатого гриба Erisiphe alphitoides (возбудителя мучнистой росы дуба) методом сравнения исследуемых параметров в открытых и экологически изолированных насаждениях на относительно малых участках. Исследования по разработке методов экологической защиты культур дуба от вредителей и болезней проводились в Воронежской обл. (Шипов лес). Они были начаты в 1991 г., результаты экспериментов фиксировались поэтапно в 1996, 2000, 2005, 2010 и 2015 гг. Выполненное на опытно-производственных объектах разбиение патогенных популяций модельных видов на достаточно малые субпопуляции инициировало эффект ИД и способствовало снижению активности патогенов. Установлено, что поражаемость патогеном мучнистой росы дуба черешчатого в биогруппах значительно ниже (12,3%), чем опушечных деревьев (67,4%). В условиях частичной репродуктивной изоляции отмечено уменьшение ключевых параметров генеративных органов E. alphitoides. Так, например, частота клейстотеций снизилась в 7,3 раза, а длина и ширина конидий – соответственно на 7,9 и 4,4 мкм, что свидетельствует о возникновении ИД. Разделение целой популяции на относительно малые (0,25 га) изолированные группы (субпопуляции) ослабляет популяцию, поскольку повышается вероятность спаривания между особями с идентичными генами. Преимущество мозаичной структуры насаждений проявляется также в том, что смежность разнопородных биогрупп обеспечивает экологическую изоляцию, существенно затрудняющую инвазию спор патогенных организмов. Показано, что эффект ИД в популяциях патогенов может быть использован в качестве превентивной защиты леса от них и будет способствовать устойчивому развитию мозаичных лесных экосистем в условиях юга Среднерусской возвышенности.
