2015
Hasan, T.
Tulip is well known all over the temperate world for its beauty and economic appeal. It is an exceptional flower, used as garden display, pot plant and cutflower. Tulip (Tulipa gesneriana L.) belongs to family Liliaceae, and is one of the top most flowering geophytes of the Netherland. The present study was carried out to check the response of different planting dates, on growth and development of a genotype of Tulip (Tulipa gesneriana L.) under environmental conditions of Faisalabad. First planting was done on 10th November 2014, followed by three planting dates at regular interval of seven days. Experiment was laid out according to Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four treatments which were replicated thrice. The results regarding the vegetative growth, flowering growth and bulb growth showed a considerable variation in response to different sowing dates and temperatures. The performance of 10th Nov. Plantation was best among all other sowing dates. Regarding temperature the early germination was observed at 26.9 degree C during 10th Nov. (T1). Whereas, transpiration rate, sub stomatal CO2 and leaf surface temperature showed maximum results in T4 sown on 1st Dec. at 26.6 degree C.
