Regional aspects of poultry production are increasingly attracting the attention of researchers. This is not only because of the growing importance of this production for feeding, but also due to many socio- economic, ecological and epidemiological implications which this production has (can have) on local communities. The aim of this paper is to analyze – based on 2012 Census of Agriculture – the regional distribution of poultry production in Serbia in order to provide data needed for different impact assessments, epidemi- ological evaluations and decision-making when planning the development of poultry production and creating agricultural policy measures. The obtained results of the analysis showed that the region of Šumadija and Western Serbia has the highest share both in the number of agricultural households engaged in egg production and in the number of laying hens, while most flocks with more than 5.000 laying hens are located in the Region of Vojvodina. The regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia, and Vojvodina have an equal share in the number of agricultural households engaged in broiler production, while Vojvodina maintains strong domina- tion with regard to the number of broilers and the number of large flocks.
