The paper analyzes export of tomato in the world, focusing on the characteristics of export from the Republic of Serbia. The study determined the largest exporters and their share and importance on the international market. The average global export of tomato amounted to 7.7 million tons, with a moderate growth trend at a rate of 1.2% per annum (2012-2016). The world's largest exporter is Mexico with average export of 1.6 million tons, accounting for 20.4% of the world’s export. More than 90% of the export is directed to the United States. The major exporters are also the Netherlands and Spain. These countries together provide almost half of the world's export of fresh tomatoes. The export of tomato from the Republic of Serbia amounted to 7.5 thousand tons and had a tendency of significant growth at a rate of 15.8% per year. The most important market is Montenegro, which absorbed a third of the total export. The price of tomato from the Republic of Serbia is competitive on the international market, as the price of domestic tomato is by 58% lower compared to the world’s average export price and to the prices of the world's leading exporters.
