FAO work to promote decent rural employment

This brochure provides an easy-to-read overview of the main components of FAO's approach to mainstreaming decent rural employment at global, regional and country level. It also includes a list of useful publications and resources. Creating more and better employment opportunities in rural areas is essential for the fight against hunger and poverty and for creating more prosperous livelihoods for the population at large. Being central to its mission, FAO works with governments and partners to create decent farm and non-farm employment, providing technical support and informing policy dialogue. In particular, FAO promotes innovative approaches to address key issues such as youth employment, child labour, women and decent work, migration, working conditions and availability of data and evidence.
