Even-age spruce stands cultivation potential in fertile forest ecosystems | Vienvecuma egļu mežu audzēšanas potenciāls auglīgajās meža ekosistēmās

英语. In 2014 within the framework of the state-supported research programme a project was launched on even-aged spruce forests. We have attempted to elucidate how the growth potential of spruce stands has changed in the last 12 years since the first evaluation of this kind in the beginning of this century. By analysing the measurement results we have tried to find out whether the remaining stand has seen improvement as a result of intermediate felling in 30 to 60 year initially overstocked spruce plantations. The methods of genetic analysis were used to clarify the potential impact on stand performance of the planting stock imported form the southern regions of the former Soviet Union. New knowledge on the occurrence of root rot in even-aged spruce stands on peaty soils has been accumulated too. After salvaging a die-back even-age spruce stand a trial plot is established, planting there different tree species a in a variety of combinations with the aim of finding answers to the future challenges of cultivating eve-age tree plantations. Tree measurement and initial evaluation of the trial plots has also been done. With a view to intensive forest cultivation and considering the need to motivate the forest owners in favour of establishing spruce plantations, research is done on the course of growth of initially sparse palntations, evaluating the research data in terms of the tree heredity and the effect of tree breeding.

拉脱维亚语. 2014. gadā tika uzsākts valsts pētījumu programmas pētījums par vienvecuma egļu mežiem. Pētījuma gaitā esam centušies noskaidrot, kā pēdējo 12 gadu laikā mainījies egļu augšanas potenciāls pēc pirmā šāda vērtējuma gadsimta sākumā. Uz mērījumu pamata esam centušies skaidrot, vai 30−60 gadu vecos, sākotnēji pārbiezinātos egļu stādījumos pēc starpcirtes ir notikusi paliekošo audzes koku augšanas uzlabošanās. Ar ģenētiskās analīzes metodēm esam skaidrojuši, vai egļu audžu zema augšanas potenciāla iemesls varētu būt vēsturiskais stādmateriāla ‘’imports’’ no bijušās PSRS dienvidu reģioniem. LVMI Silava zinātnieki turpinājuši uzkrāt zināšanas par sakņu trupes izplatību vienvecuma egļu mežos uz kūdras augsnēm. Pētījumu programmas laikā ierīkots eksperimentāls stādījums pēc iepriekš nokaltušas vienvecuma egļu kokaudzes nociršanas, izmantojot dažādas koku sugas un to kombinācijas, lai nākotnē meklētu atbildi meža atjaunošanas izaicinājumiem. Veikts sākotnējs eksperimentālā stādījuma vērtējums un koku uzmērījumi. Lai intensīvas mežsaimniecības apstākļos ar zināšanām atbalstītu meža īpašniekus izvēlēties egli par atjaunojamo koku sugu, veikts pētījums par sākotnēji retu stādījumu augšanas gaitu un rezultātu mijiedarbībā ar koku iedzimtību un meža selekcijas efektu.
