The sub-project “Exploration of entrails of the earth for the diversification of natural raw materials and development of new technologies” focused on the development of geological and geophysical research methods of certain qualities of mineral resources, in order to increase their efficiency. It resulted in five doctoral theses, twelve monographs, many scientific papers and reports at the international conferences. New research activities allowed us to go into details of the research fields initiated before. It also enabled us to perform the diversification of research subjects, which would allow the project to be concluded with business solutions potentially useful for our social partners. At the same time, it should be highlighted that close collaboration between individual researchers allowed the dynamic exchange of the research results between individual groups and further targeted use of scientific infrastructure, regardless at what institution it was located. Particularly outstanding are the results in the development of geophysical methods in peat and road infrastructure research fields, as well as modern monographic characteristics of dolomite and glass sand resources in Latvia, which allows these data to be used directly in production. Very high-quality results have been obtained in the research of earth colours of Latvia. This research allowed us to develop a wide variety of shades of ochre pigments production technologies and to obtain pigment prototypes using local resources only. It should be noted that the research in all above mentioned directions is continued with the support of other sources of finance, and knowledge has been passed on to the social partners for further implementation in the production.

Apakšprojekta “Zemes dzīļu resursu izpēte dabisko izejvielu dažādošanai un jaunu tehnoloģiju izstrādei” pētījumu uzdevumi galvenokārt izceļ zemes dzīļu un to noderīgo īpašību pētījumus, tomēr to mērķis ir jaunas zināšanas visā ķēdē - no derīgo izrakteņu īpašību un pieejamības izpētes līdz jaunām tehnoloģijām un konkurētspējīgiem inovatīviem produktiem.
