This study investigated several genetic traits of bread wheat in dry land condition, and their potential for identification of drought tolerant genotypes. Twenty genotypes, including two cultivars and 18 lines were investigated in a field experiment using randomized complete block design with four replications in dry land condition during the 2010-2011 crop seasons. Observations were carried out at physiological ripening stage. There were significant differences between genotypes on the studied traits and significant genotypic correlation between yield and most of traits except number of spikes. Path analysis showed that biomass harvest index and 1000-kernel weight had direct and indirect effects along with positive genetic correlation on yield. Direct selection of these traits in early generations will enhance genetic potential of these bread wheat genotypes for yield. The cluster analysis divided the genotypes into two clusters. Crossing among genotypes in first and second groups will provide more possibility for having more genetic variance and optimal genotypes in relation to yield performance under dry-land conditions.
