This study was conducted in Ankara University Faculty of Agriculture Department of Horticulture from 2006 to 2009. Bulbs and flowers of different tulip species (Muş lalesi, Tulipa sintenisii Baker.) and (Tulipa gesneriana L.) varieties were used as plant material. The study consisted of 4 independent research experiments. Suitable varieties for Ankara conditions was determined in first stage. The bulbs were stored in different conditions (in peat at 1°C; common storage at 20-21°C; normal atmosphere at 20°C; controlled atmosphere with O2 1%, 2%, %3 + CO2 3% at 20°C), storage period and species/varieties were examined in second stage. The effects of different types of Ca fertilizer [CaCl2 and Ca(NO3)2] and different (100-150 ppm) concentrations on plant growth were determined in third stage. The effects of 4 different development stages of perianth, storage temperatures (0°C, 5°C, 10°C) and sucrose concentrations (2%, 5%) on vase life of flowers were identified in last experiment. Tulip cv. Purissima and Guiseppe Verdi were determined as suitable for Ankara condition. The optimal bulb storage period and condition of cv. Purissima was 3 months in common storage at 20-21°C. During storage period 4,98% of bulbs weight loss, ethylene (0,72 ppm/kg.h) and ABA (25,29 ng/g) amounts were determined in common storage. According to plant growth performance optimal Ca fertilizer was 150 ppm Ca(NO3)2, Ca concentrations of plant was increased. Vase life was varied from 1,2 to 6,2 days according to different applications (perianth development stages, storage temperatures and sucrose concentrations) in tulip species of Muş lalesi and Purissima, Guiseppe Verdi.
