The article summarises the results of a study on the possibilities of producing wood biomass for renewable energy raw materials in agricultural land by establishing grey alder plantations. The results of the study cover an eight-year grey alder plantation of a thickness of 1600 trees haE−1, growth rate parameters, stock and biomass to be obtained, applying 2 types of manure: ash – 6 t haE−1 and sewage sludge – 10 t haE−1. In the control areas, the height of the trees and the diameter of the stem at 1.3 m height in the eighth year shall reach 5.6 m and 6.1 cm, with the wood-fertilised ash – 5.7 m and 6.4 cm, and in the field parts fertilised with sewage sludge, respectively 6.0 m and 6.5 cm. In the eighth year following the establishment of a planting per hectare, the control option shall consist of 2114 trees and offshoots, 1926 trees and offshoots in the ash-fertilised area, but, using the basic manure of sludge – 1704 trees and offshoots. Evaluating the growth rate and productivity of the eight-year-old grey alder plantations, we conclude that the obtained biomass does not differ significantly from the 1 ha control variant - without fertilization and when fertilizing with ash and sewage sludge, naturally dry biomass forms respectively − 19.8 t haE−1, 16.3 t haE−1, and 17.7 t haE−1.
