The purpose of the research was to establish the optimum production regimes for pellets derivedfrom crop residues by optimizing the densification regimes. The research was carried out in the Solid BiofuelsLaboratory within the State Agrarian University of Moldova, using standard methods for determining the mainqualitative characteristics of the studied biomass. Densification was performed for single granules at a pressdesigned and made for this purpose. Experimentally, it has been established that pellet production with particledensity greater than 1.0 g/cm3, which provides a bulk density of pellets greater than 600 kg/m3, i. e., it meets therequirements of ENPlus3, can be performed at a mold temperature of at least 80°C and the initial moisture contentof the biomass should not exceed 12%. If the pelletizing occurs at temperatures above 80°C, the initial moisturecontent of the biomass may be increased proportionally to the increase of the pelletizing temperature, but notmore than 15%. Also, it was determined that the highest calorific value of pellets is obtained when the initialmoisture content of the biomass is within the range of 10 ± 2%.
