The Fouta Djallon Highlands form a mountain ecosystem that straddles the Republic of Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Senegal, Mali, Côte dâ??Ivoire, Liberia and Sierra Leone.The Fouta Djallon highlands are the source of West Africaâ??s most important rivers: Senegal, Gambia, Niger and Mano rivers. These rivers provide drinking water, irrigation and hydroelectric power to millions of people in Senegal, Mauritania, Gambia, Mali, Niger and Nigeria.
