The regression methods are shown not to allow assessing an open local stock as in the case of the Leslie and De Lury classic models. To solve this problem, a method based on Kalman filter is suggested. Besides, there is given a description of some methodical weak points of De Lury model, which make it less preferable regarding to Leslie’s model.
