Seeds of white mustard (Sinapis alba L.) were treated with cadmium (Cd) and manganese (Mn) salts at different concentrations and root, hypocotyl and epicotyl length was measured for individual treatments, as well as in combination with different concentrations of salicylic acid. The results indicate that high concentrations of Cd and Mn negatively affect the development of S. alba. It has been shown that during the cultivation of S. alba under stressful conditions caused by Cd and Mn, it is recommended to treat this species with salicylic acid solutions at concentrations of 0.25 and 0.5 mM. The positive effects of salicylic acid on the development of S. alba under stressful conditions provides the possibility of cultivating this species in habitats with increased concentration of heavy metals.
