Agriculture is in constant expansion due to the increasing need for food thataccompanies global population growth. Polymers are a diverse class of materialswhose ultimate properties, as well as the way they are obtained, can be designed tofollow modern tendencies and the contemporary lifestyle. This paper presents thepossibilities of applying different polymers classified, first of all, by molecularstructure and form of application, with emphasis on acrylate hydrogels anddemonstration of their smart nature, in terms of correlation between theirchemical composition and swelling properties.
