Osteometry of the appendicular skeleton in buffalo (Bubalus bubalis)

The present study was conducted on seven sets of bones of fore and hind limbs of indigenous buffalo. The general plan and arrangement of appendicular skeleton of buffalo resembled to that of ox. The femur (882.33 ± 7.01 g) and scapula (37.43 ± 0.89 cm) were heaviest and longest bone, respectively. The weight of fore and hind limb without the weight of pelvis were nearly the same. Single digit of forelimb (95.50 ± 2.01 g) was slightly heavier than the corresponding digit ofhindlimb (93.14.14 ± 2.56 g).
