A comparative characteristic of the physico-chemical properties of typical chernozem used in agriculture for a long time and are presented. Comparison of the humus content in a typical natural chernozem (1877) with arable typical chernozem from present-day showed that over 140 years the humus content decreased by 43.2% of the initial amount of humus. The physico-chemical properties of the modern typical chernozem are characterized as satisfactory. Maintaining the speed of annual reduction of humus content presents a significant ecological and economic danger for Moldova.
